Mr. Rubber Calgary
I just got back from a great weekend in Calgary where I was the head judge in the Mr. Calgary Rubber competition. This is the first rubber competition that Calgary has had and its success will ensure that it becomes an annual event. Priape and the new M. Rubber Montreal, Stephane Donaldson organized the competition. I helped out by making the bilingual application form, and I have to say that it is brilliant; just like my name in French.
The rubber scene in Calgary is growing and, with the enthusiasm that the two contestants had, it is sure to blossom. Reid and Doug went through a series of steps, showing off their best rubber and also their imaginations. It was a very close contest; both candidates were strong contenders. In the end, Reid came through with a 3 point advance over Doug out of a total of 300 points. Very close!
A mixed crowd filled the Calgary Eagle in time for the competition. Many curious people came out to see what it was all about. From vanilla to rubbery extremes, everyone seemed to enjoy himself. I believe that next year Calgary will even see a few guys in rubbery drag as many of them in attendance really enjoyed the evening and will surly find ways to incorporate the two fetishes.
Master Barry did a great job as MC for the evening.
A big thank you goes to the co judges: Jimmy from Priape and Mike, Mr. Leather Calgary, for all of their help. I wish Mike the best of luck as he competes at IML in May.
I would especially like to thank Jimmy and Priape for their generosity in keeping me hydrated throughout the evening. It was much appreciated.
Mario from Polymorphe here in Montreal generously supplied the winner with a fantastic vest to commemorate the title.
I have to add that the staff at the Calgary Eagle was most welcoming. Ian was my knight in shining armour, driving me home at the end of the night when no cabs were available. He even did it knowing that I didn't know the address of where I was going. I was secretly hoping that we would not find it at all and that he would take me home, but he knows the city too well.
Have fun wearing your rubber!
BJ
