Were pulling together all of the details for MIR 2009. As a loyal follower of the event, we're giving you a first glimpse of the images for this year's advertising and media campaign!
Our designer Jackie (aka: Supergurl) has created the graphics and our webdesiger Evanrude is working to translate this onto our website.
Soon you'll be seeing this image on barcards, posters all over the globe.
MIR2009 Hotel Block is NOW OPEN!
The MIR2009 Hotel Block is now open. Once again our primary host hotel is the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace, located in the heart of Boystown/Lakeview in Chicago.
The Best Western has been our primary hotel for several years now, and if you've stayed there you know that it is conveniantly located in the middle of Chicago's gay neighborhood. For one weekend of the year, MIR weekend, this hotel is filled to the rafters with horny rubber men!
Rates are the same as last year with no increase:
Standard Queen Room - $135.10 per night
Standard Double Room - $152.15 per night
Junior Suite with Two Doubles - $161.10 per night
As always, you can cancel your reservation 24 hours in advance of your check-in with no penalty. Minimum stay is 2 nights.
Last year the Best Western Hawthorne Terrace was completely booked by the middle of June. So if you want to stay in the hotel closest to MIR2009 events, now is the time to make your reservations!
You must call the hotel direct to make your reservation and ask for the "International Rubber" group of rooms. Call the hotel at 773-244-3434 or 888-675-2378.
MIR at IML2008
Each year Chicago welcomes two of the largest international fetish contests.
This year International Mr. Leather celebrates their 30th anniversary weekend from May 22 - 26, 2008. Each year thousands of men from around the globe converge on Chicago for this weekend.
MIR will have a prime location at the entrance to the lather market, giving a shiny strechy injection into the largest fetish market on the face of the planet.
As with previous years, we are looking for volunteers to staff the booth. It really is the best of both worlds. You are in the midst of the leather market and get to interact with the parade of hot horny men who are doing their cruising...er...shopping.
We try to keep the shifts to 2 hours blocks so that you have time to do other things...or maybe have some fun with the guys you've met while chattign them up about MIR2009!

MySpace for Rubber Perverts?
Last month we launched our new presence on MySpace.
Our foray into this mainstream site has been a huge success on all accounts. In just under 30 days we've attracted over 400 friends, many of whom had never heard of Mr. International Rubber! We made contact with experienced rubberists and novices from around the globe.
As an added incentive to visit the MIRubber myspace page, we've added photos to the gallery from the past three years of MIR to share with the world. (No bare buttocks in the MySpace gallery, but otherwise, it's all MIR related photos.) Check out some of the new friends of MIR...maybe you'll make a new friend as well!
We have noticed that alot of MySpace pages go very graphics heavy, which can dramatically slow down your access to information, so we're keeping true to our style from MIRubber.com. Simple and to the point with the information and networking being the primary goals of our MySpace incarnation.

Eagle L.A. Mr. Rubber Contest, May 17th
The Eagle L.A. is hosting the third incarnation of their Mr. Rubber contest. Their poster takes its cues from old style Hollywood with a modern twist as you can see from the right... "He came from the sewers...." OINK!
The winner of the Eagle LA Mr Rubber Contest goes on to compete at West Coast Rubber 2008 which is also being held in Los Angeles this year. (See below for more details on WCR2008!)

West Coast Rubber 2008 moves to Los Angeles!
L8xdad and L8xboy made the move to Los Angeles from Palm Springs a little over a year ago. This year they move their baby, West Coast Rubber, to the LA Area as well!
The City of Angels will never be the same when the rubber pigs invade for a weekend of rubber penetration and perversion!
The host hotel for this year's WCR is the Ramada Plaza hotel in West Hollywood. Rooms start at $160, but you have to mention West Coast Rubber to get the special rate.
There are events at the Eagle L.A., the SoCal Bondage Club, and the pool party tradition continues at a private home in the Hollywood Hills. (Hmmm...doesn't David Beckham live in the hills?)
Mr. Midwest Rubber 2008 and Pantheon XVIII
Mr. Midwest Rubber begins it's third year of competition and this year has become the Saturday night centerpiece event of Pantheon of Leather XVIII. The weekend will be held July 18 - 20, 2008 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mr. Midwest has no defined regional qualifications and contestants are welcomed from all areas. So if you're from Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Tennesee, Kansas, Missouri, Idaho or any other "midwest" state and looking to make your rubbery mark, this is your contest! MIR2008 BJ Turgeon will be a guest judge and contestants are sought from all areas for this event.
Meanwhile, Pantheon of Leather is celebrating it's eighteenth year as the kink community's version of the people's choice awards with a new weekend and warmer tempratures. Pantheon of leather is hosted by The Leather Journal and solicits nominations for award winners for several months. While the nominations for this year are now closed, there are several rubbery nominees for the Pantheon Awards including:
- The Chicago Rubbermen have been nominated for Small Club of the Year;
- Loren Berthelson and Alex Lindsey (L8xDad and L8xboy of West Coast Rubber) and John Weis and Rubber Larry (the current and former Mr. East Coast Rubber) have both been nominated for couple of the year;
- Rubber Invasion of New York has been nominated as the Small Event of the year;
- Michael Thorn of Instigator Magazine has been nominated as Business Person of the Year; and
- MIR Contestant Wrangler Phil Redmond (our infamous MIR2008 scene stealer) has been nominated for the Midwest Regional Award.
Congratulations to all of the nominees and we look forward to seeing you this coming July at Mr. Midwest Rubber 2008 and Pantheon of Leather XVIII in Chicago!
